Abstract:
Delineates 2 kinds of clever students: the “converger”, who excels in objective tests, and the “diverger”, who excels in essay tests. A description of the intellectual abilities, attitudes, and personalities of a sample of convergers and divergers as measured by psychological testing is the basis for a discussion of the nature of intelligence, creativity, and the interaction between intellectual and personal qualities. Statistical tables and the psychological tests used are included in the appendix.
